Gross Hematuria--blood seen in the urine
Microscopic Hematuria--red blood cells seen in the urine only after observing them under a microscope
Cystoscopy--looking inside the bladder with a camera. This can be done in the office with a small, flexible camera.
TRUS Biopsy--transrectal ultrasound-guided biospy of the prostate. An elevated PSA or abnormal digital rectal exam may indicate the need for a prostate biospy. This can be performed in the office with local anesthesia.
PEDIATRIC
Vesicoureteral Reflux--urine refluxes into ureters from the bladder. Depending on the severity, this may be associated with urinary tract infections and/or renal damage.
VCUG--voiding cystourethrogram--a special x-ray exam that involves taking pictures while the bladder is filled as well as while the infant (child or adult) voids (empties the bladder); this test may reveal vesicoureteral reflux.
Cryptorchidism--state in which one or both testicles are not in their normal position in the scrotum; undescended testes.
